WeedBot is a technology company that builds high-precision weeding systems for conventional and organic farmers. The weeding equipment relies on computer vision to distinguish between weeds and crops and uses a high-powered laser to eliminate weeds. WeedBot's technology is environmentally friendly laser weeding and can replace herbicide usage and manual weeding.
WeedBot has had a busy August assessing the results from their carrot trials; see the image below of CEO Janis Jasko; the left side of the carrot ridge has been treated with a laser, whereas the right side has not. There is a clear difference; the laser treatment has reduced weed biomass by more than 90%, leaving the critical nutrients available in the soil for the carrot crop.
