Out with the old, in with the new MDS trainee! Saying goodbye and good luck to Ellie

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

Six months sure does fly by! Ellie Wait, a Harper Adams University alumni, joined NIAB in April for a six-month placement as a New Business Analyst through the MDS graduate scheme. Since joining, she has worked within the NIAB Ventures department, spending a busy six months, supporting teams across the wider NIAB group. Ellie's highlights include assisting NIAB's Marketing Communications department during events season at both Cereals and Groundswell, learning about Malling Fruits and supporting Technical Officer Alin Borleanu with strawberry audits, and lastly, being involved in the developments at Barn4 post-pandemic and managing Barn4's marketing.

"The support and guidance the people at NIAB have given me over the past six months have allowed me to flourish and establish a clear vision of where I see myself in the next five years. NIAB is a vast company with oodles of expertise; it has allowed me to widen my knowledge about the agricultural industry, everything from breeding to marketing. Working closely with Barn4 members has opened my mind to questioning what the sector will look like over my lifetime with the rise of agritech businesses. To sum up my time at NIAB, I have learnt three things:

  1. Always be two steps ahead.

  2. Never stop asking questions.

  3. Believe in yourself.

Thank you to everyone at NIAB who has guided and supported me these past six months. I am very excited about my next venture. Watch this space." Ellie Wait.

Whilst it is sad to see Ellie go, we are excited to introduce our new MDS trainee, Alex Muxworthy , to Barn4 and the wider NIAB group. Alex will be joining the team on the 19th of October and Ellie will be leaving on the 21st of October.
